Getting to Nelson

Fly, bus, or car — Nelson is delightfully out of the way yet entirely accessible.

Nelson has its own airport (CZNL) for small planes and helicopters only. It is within easy walking or taxi distance, about a five minute drive, from downtown Nelson.

There are two commercial airports conveniently close to Nelson:

Pacific Coastal Airlines serves the Trail Regional Airport (YZZ) with flights throughout southern BC. As of March 2021 their service is active. Trail is approximately one hour’s drive from Nelson. There is no car rental service at the airport, so you will need to arrange private pick-up and drop-off.

Air Canada ordinarily serves the West Kootenay Regional Airport (YCG) in Castlegar, about forty minutes drive from Nelson, with connections to Vancouver, Kelowna, and Calgary. However, as of March 2021 their service is suspended during the pandemic.

Silver City Stagelines makes regular trips between Kelowna and Nelson, and Mountain Man Mike’s has routes to and from Vancouver and Calgary. Greyhound no longer serves our area.
