Things being what they were in 2020, Elephant Mountain Literary Festival celebrated the written word in creative new ways. We learned how nimble we could be, fully embraced our exceptional local talent, had a great time.
Thanks to Whitewater Ski resort writer-in-residence Jayme Moye and Nelson novelist Sarah Louise Butler, who wowed us with their words at our Wild Grapes outdoor event on Friday, July 10 (and yes, there were literary wine pairings!) That week we held online, one-on-one critique sessions for writers with accomplished author/editors Jenna Butler and Verna Relkoff.
Wild Grapes was so much fun we returned to the meadow just outside of Nelson for Wine and Crime, featuring new novels by Roz Nay and Judy (J.G.) Toews (the latter read by Rayya Liebich), with a wine pairing and toast to both these beloved authors. As well, the Richard Carver Award for Emerging Writer was presented to Danielle LaRocque, with honourable mention going to Sarah Louise Butler. It was a magical event!
