Ten Years, Ten Days
“Writing in a Dangerous Time”
We’re proud to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a 10 day long festival, July 2–11 2021. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 18.
Even in this inconstant world some things continue. Writers keep writing, readers keep reading, and Nelson BC’s Elephant Mountain Literary Festival continues to celebrate both.
Again this year, EMLF will provide a mix of events — both online via streaming video and physically present but socially distanced. Writers will have an opportunity to get professional critique of their work in progress in the Holley Rubinsky Memorial Blue Pencil Sessions. Readings by local authors will be held outdoors on lovely nearby rural properties in compliance with provincial distancing guidelines. Here are a few of our guest writers.
Celebrating the outdoors out-of-doors!
A familiar favorite of EMLF regulars is our annual reading and wine tasting, presented again this year in person, outdoors, and pandemic guideline compliant.
For our physically present events there will be no tickets sold on site. Please buy your tickets in advance and we’ll have your name on our list when you arrive.
Do bring a blanket or lawn chair. Staff will be on hand to assure socially-distanced seating in accordance with health regulations. We encourage you to come early so that getting everyone settled doesn’t intrude on the time we have for presentations.
Our outdoor venues are fully equipped with washrooms. There will be ample parking on site and nearby. Please inform us if you’ll need on site parking for mobility reasons in order to secure your space.
For the wine-tasting you’ll be invited to raise a glass with two wine “tasters” creatively paired with our authors. You are encouraged to bring your own glass! We will not be serving food or other beverages. Wine refills can be purchased at the bar (cash only, please).
